Senate Bill 459 passed the Senate, but was killed by the Georgia House of Representatives in March of 2012.  But there are now several power companies, such as Georgia Power, that have an opt out.  Please see the home page for more details.  Thank you.
Senate Bill 459 History

Friday, March 30, 2012

Dear Friends,

How odd.  Georgia legislators are willing to risk – or ruin – their political careers in order to protect a machine that catches fire, explodes, melts, radiates all occupants of the building that it is on (and the buildings around it) day and night, and whose power supply increases the occupants’ chances of getting cancer up to thirteen times above average.  Why is that?

What is so important that they would risk the health and lives of millions of Georgians for a device that, in any other situation, would have been thrown out on the drawing board?  It’s well known that there are safe ways to transmit power usage information from a home or business to the power company, such as via fiber optics.  So why on earth would a politician or even a businessperson or investor get on board with such a scheme?

It’s pretty plain that “smart” meter digital electric meters are “the new asbestos.”  We will soon be seeing commercials from lawyers who are catching on (and there are many lawsuits already) saying:  “Have YOU been involved in a house fire started by a ‘smart’ meter?  Was YOUR CHILD diagnosed with leukemia after sleeping by the wall opposite a ‘smart’ meter?  Did you start experiencing serious heart problems after the power company told you that you HAD to have a ‘smart’ meter, when in fact there is no law that says you must?”

If I had invested in “smart” meters, I’d be quaking in my boots.  It’s becoming plain to everyone and his brother that NO ONE should have this on their home, business, or anywhere they are staying for even one night.  If I ever move, I will tell my realtor to make sure to not show me any houses with these digital meters.  The value of houses with “smart” meters are going to plummet as their extreme dangers become more and more well known.

Unless, of course, there is an opt out.  Senate Bill 459, for a free opt out option is, I’ve been assured, deader than a doornail, killed by the Georgia House Energy Subcommittee and “Representative” Don Parsons, the chairman of the Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee.

But this won’t stop those people who have consciences from continuing to work hard, day and night, to stop this scourge, that is international in scope.  The great thing is, “smart” meter digital electric meters are going to start coming down as fast as they’re going up!  In other places, they’re not going to go up at all, due to all the bad news swirling around them.

But there’s good news, and I credit ALL OF YOU for it:  We did get an opt out, of sorts.  Georgia Power has said that those who have safe, analog meters can keep them!  Here is the link to the article that says that (link here).  I would STRONGLY ADVISE printing this out and keeping a copy, for future reference.  You may have to show it to a Georgia Power person someday.  In the meantime, please make sure you have a sign up that says something like “DO NOT REPLACE METER.  We refuse the “smart” meter due to health, safety, and privacy concerns.”  Put it in a gallon ziplock and tape it below your safe, analog meter.

It may be the case the some Georgia Power employees have not yet gotten the message that those who have safe, analog meters now will be allowed to keep them.  Someone called them yesterday and was told that they would even cut a lock off to install a "smart" meter!  So please pay close attention to this next piece of advice, please...

One good thing that has come out of this mess is that we’re drawing together as a state.  Along those lines, please tell your family, friends, and neighbors to watch out for the installers, and warn one another when they’re approaching.  I, personally, would get between an installer and my meter.  There’s no law that says I have to have a “smart” meter, and I’m not allowing my family to be exposed to that much radiation, and the transients that are caused in your home’s wiring due to the switching mode power supply.  Your chances of getting cancer can go up astronomically with the resulting “dirty electricity.”

I’d like to thank all of you for your inspiring dedication to this cause.  You have gone way out of your comfort zone, and it has been very apparent in Atlanta.  One legislator’s office started to say they had received “millions of…” then corrected herself to “hundreds of emails,” a testament to how hard you worked!  And I know, because I’ve gotten messages to the effect that you are now more convinced than ever that this is a worthy cause, and you will keep at it to the end.  Thank you!  We will need the help of every last one of you.

Get a good rest over the weekend, because next week, we will start afresh, looking into our options.  We’re going to start collecting stories of those who have had documented troubles with “smart” meters, including fires, health problems, skyrocketing bills, and more.  Our contact address is info@stopsmartmetersGeorgia.Org, if you’d like to share your concerns or ask questions.  We’ll do our best to help!

We’re going to reach out to more safe energy organizations, and check out what options we have where renewable energy is concerned.  Please mail in your suggestions in those areas!  We’ve seen that we can no longer trust certain power companies to keep us safe, so we have to protect ourselves by becoming informed, proactive, and protective of each other and our private property.

Finally, we are going to look into our legal options, as citizens with the right to be safe in our own homes.  So, if you know any lawyers, please make them aware of the situation.  People are having success in other areas of the country by going that route.  It’s not that difficult of a concept to understand, and there is a lot of hard evidence against the “Spy and Fry” meters!  If you google “’smart’ meter dangers,” it would take you a good long while to read everything out there on the subject.  So, we’re going to gather our evidence and move forward, not stopping until everyone has a choice to “just say NO” to “smart” meter digital electric meters!

Good morning!  We're still double-checking on whether or not we've been sold out by what has been termed the "most corruption prone...government" in the United States.  Don't want to jump the gun!

Thursday, March 29 - Rep. Don Parsons', Mark Hamilton's and Energy Subcommittee's Last Chance to Save Their Reputations!

Good morning! What an exciting day. Today we find out what the Georgia Assembly is made of. Yes, I think, if these people are on the up and up about this bill, pressure could be brought to bear on "Representatives" Don Parsons and Mark Hamilton, to push Senate Bill 459 straight through to the House floor. If people weren't beholden to special interests, it would be passed by a landslide. No one is against people being safe and healthy in their homes! Unless they have an agenda, no one is going to oppose Senate Bill 459. So we'll see!

Today would be a good day to call the governor again (404-656-1776), and Rep. David Ralston, Speaker of the Georgia House (just called the latter, left a message - he's at 404-656-5020). See message below for their contact info. ALSO...please call your own district's representative(s), even if you've done that before. If this goes to the House floor, which it still can, we want to make sure our guys and gals are informed!

Also, you’ll love this video from FOX Report. Check out the fire in the guy who says he would MOVE OUT OF TOWN before he’d accept a “smart” meter! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yv4Zd05o8Sw

Feel free to send this to the Energy Subcommittee reps, and Parsons, Hamilton, and Governor Deal; their contact info is below. Thanks again!

Wednesday Night into Thurday: D-DAY!!

Friends, we need to post this (below) everywhere we can ALL DAY (OUR LAST DAY!) where people will understand the danger Georgians are in, and will ACT!

We’re still calling and/or emailing Governor Deal, and asking him to intercede on our behalf for Senate Bill 459, an opt out for extremely dangerous “smart” meters. Just as someone on death row heading to the electric chair hopes for a reprieve, so, too, do we, as we head toward our own personal electric chair, the “smart” meter! They can harm your family, your home, and your finances, so please call Gov. Deal at 404-656-1776 (email: http://gov.georgia.gov/00/gov/contact_us/0,2657,165937316_166563415,00.html), and ask him to use his influence to get SB 459 out of the Energy Subcommittee and onto the House floor – there is still time!  One more thing:  We also think calling/emailing the Speaker of the House, Rep. David Ralston (404-656-5020/david.ralston@house.ga.gov), will be fruitful.  Tell him that, for the House to maintain its integrity, the Energy Subcommittee/"Rep." Mark Hamilton/"Rep." Don Parsons must be forced to pass Senate Bill 459 to the Rules Committee, then to the House floor IMMEDIATELY.  We demand real representation!  For more information, please visit www.stopsmartmetersGeorgia.Org.  Thank you!

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

We're going straight to the top today, ladies and gentlemen.  When a man or woman on death row is led to the electric chair chair, there is only one way to save them:  the governor.  Luckily, we have a few more tricks up our sleeve, and "representatives" Don Parsons and Mark Hamilton might develop consciences and allow Senate Bill 459, for a free opt out from "smart" meters to come out of the Energy Subcommittee.

But condemned people hope and pray that they will get that last-minute call from the governor, as they advance, step by step to the electric chair.  We're moving toward our own electric chair - no legislative opt out from the "Spy and Fry" digital meter.

Technically, and this is an extremely important point to remember, you DON'T HAVE TO HAVE A "SMART" METER IF YOU DON'T WANT ONE!  There's no legal mandate, either on the federal or state level.  PLUS, we've had a major victory, in that Georgia Power has now said publicly that anyone who has a safe, analog meter (the kind with the spinning silver wheel) can keep it!  Here's the link - please print this out and keep it onhand in case GAP comes a-callin' (http://savannahnow.com/news/2012-03-26/smart-

meters-bring-installation-woes-customers-georgia-power).  Please tell everyone you know ASAP, so they can protect themselves!

But that doesn't help those who already had a "smart" meter illegally affixed to the side of their home or business.  Why do I say "illegally"?  Because the Federal Energy Policy Act of 2005 says only that you can have a "rate-based" aka "smart" meter if you ASK FOR ONE.  And no one's asking!  Second, since these things aren't tested for human safety, and aren't UL tested, and they catch on fire, explode, and melt, I doubt it is permissible to install them anywhere.  Third, there are some that believe that, because these machines can be hacked easily, and because they can reveal something more than just your total energy usage (e. g. appliances electronic signatures, as shown:  http://stopocsmartmeters.com/smart-

meter-dangers/privacy-invasion/).

Back to the governor!   I believe, in this 11th hour, we need to pull out all the stops. Deal probably has some influence with the legislature, and there's definitely still time to push this through Rules and onto the House floor. And, believe me, when there is no more time, that will be IT! I will stop working for Senate Bill 459 at that point. But we don't want to stop before then. We don't want to look back and wonder what might have happened if we had done more.

So, here's my letter to the governor. I just sent it via email, through his website:  http://gov.georgia.gov/00/gov/contact_u

s/0,2657,165937316_166563415,00.html. I'll also post the phone number, just in case you want to start calling, too - it's a patriotic, easy-to-remember number: 404-656-1776!

As always, feel free to use my email, compose your own, or try the combo platter!  And let's keep calling the reps, to let them know we are going to keep hammering them until they do the right thing.  They can call a meeting ANY TIME, vote that SB 459 be moved forward, and the bill can go to rules, even through tomorrow afternoon - I've seen it done before in the Senate, where they were smart enough and decent enough to get this life-saving bill voted through with ease.  I'm not sure how this handful of "representatives" can live with themselves if they do anything less!

The email:

Dear Governor Deal,

Thank you in advance for reading this message.  We have a dire situation here in Georgia.  People's health and lives are in immediate and long-term danger, and you can help to put a stop to the problem.  Janice Davis said to mention her name, as she and I spoke yesterday (I forgot to reference that in my email from yesterday, so I'm adding it here, as well as adding a couple of articles showing that our specific issue is being covered around the country and around the world).

I'm referring to "smart" meter electric meters.  These untested-for-human-safety digital meters can catch fire, explode, melt, double and triple (and worse) people's electric bills:  http://www.stopsmartmetersgeorgia.o

rg/burningmeltingmeters.html.  The radiation they shoot out hundreds of times a day can cause cancer, especially in children.

"Smart" meters actually have at least two components that can cause cancer.  The one mentioned above is the transmitter.  The second one is the switching mode power supply, which creates a strong electromagnetic field around your home's wires.  This can raise your chances of getting cancer by 65% to thirteen times more than average!

There is a bill in the House Energy Subcommittee right now, Senate Bill 459, which would allow for an opt out for electric customers from these not-so-smart meters.  It passed easily through the Senate.  Not only that, but the majority leader and majority whip offered an amendment, which was accepted without opposition, to make the opt out free.

But now, for some strange reason, the Energy Subcommittee, under the watchful eye of the chair of the Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee, Rep. Don Parsons, has tabled the bill.  This despite getting hundreds of calls and emails over the past two weeks, from Georgians asking to not be put in harm's way, to be able to opt out of harm's way.

Governor Deal, these meters should never have gone up in the first place.  Besides never being tested for human safety, nor UL tested, there is no law, federal or state, that says you must have a "smart" meter.  The Federal Energy Policy Act of 2005 states only that you can have one is you ask for you.  The electric companies do not have a leg to stand on, telling people they have no choice but to get one.  Georgia Power, seeing the outcry and the fact that these things are now internationally known as disastrous devices, has now said that those who have a safe, analog meter can keep it.  But that does noting to help those who are suffering with one now.

What do I mean by “suffering”?  I, as the owner of www.stopsmartmetersGeorgia, am getting heartbreaking emails from people who are getting sick, not able to sleep, and who just want the safe, analog meter that they once had, back on their home.  If you go to the website, you will see a video of Georgia Power taking Ms. Irene Mays’s meter and leaving her without power.  She had suffered when first getting a “smart” meter with ringing in the ears and other symptoms.  Her son stepped in and ordered an analog meter.  When this 87-year-old woman was away in Atlanta getting surgery, Georgia Power came and took her analog meter and put a “smart” meter back in.

Her symptoms started up again immediately, and Ms. Mays’s son, Jerry, called Georgia Power and asked for his analog meter back.  You’ll see their response on the video – taking back the “smart” meter, not returning the analog meter, which belonged to her, and leaving her without power.

Because of the widespread concern over the harm that “smart” meters can do, Senate Bill 459 is getting attention worldwide!  Here is a story from The Blaze, Glenn Beck’s website about our bill specifically, which references Ms. Mays story and discusses a CBS Atlanta TV news report by Adam Murphy about health problems that can be caused by these digital meters:  http://www.theblaze.com/stories/fight-against-wir

eless-smart-meter-assault-spreads-over-health-concerns/.  Here’s an article from a UK website:  http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/03/26/us_smart_meters/.

Georgia Power will tell you that these meters only communicate for a total of “one second a day.”  The truth is that one second is divided into milliseconds, and consists of radiofrequency radiation (RF), which the World Health Organization has classified as a Class 2B carcinogen, being shot through your home and family hundreds of times a day!  It is a strong signal, that can travel 15 miles and more, so the wall is no impediment.  Put it this way:  A Georgia Power-related person, when I asked him about the safety of these meters, said, “Well, you’re not sleeping in that room, are you?”

Georgia Power also says they are within FCC guidelines where the RF is concerned.  What they don’t tell you is that the FCC does not cover non-thermal damage from this type of radiation, which can damage DNA, cross the blood-brain barrier, and can also cause cancer, especially in children.  All of the documentation for this information is on my website (link) and in the Bioinitiative Report:  http://www.bioinitiative.org/report/index.htm.

Also misleading in the extreme is Georgia Power's statement that a "smart" meter emits less radiation than a cell phone.  Actually, it emits over forty times more:  http://www.committeetobridgethegap.o

rg/pdf/110212_RFrad_comments.pdf.  Imagine forty cell phones, stuck to the wall outside your home, and on 24/7!

Finally, there is a huge security risk with these digital meters.  They can be hacked with a laptop and the right equipment.  This would allow someone with criminal intent to know whether you are home or not.  But that’s the least of your worries, considering the foregoing.

Connecticut Attorney General Jepsen said that there would only be a savings for the consumer of eleven dollars over twenty years with a “smart” meter.  At any cost savings, they are clearly not worth the risk.  This is why I’m writing.

Please, Governor Deal, you may be Georgians’ last hope to stop this scourge.  I implore you to use your influence to make sure Senate Bill 459 passes out of the Energy Subcommittee, moves to the Rules Committee, and goes to the House floor for a vote by Thursday, March 29th.  My son just asked me, when I told him they were trying to kill this bill in the Energy Subcommittee: “That’s not legal, is it?”  It is legal, I told him, but not moral or ethical.  And it’s certainly not doing their job – protecting the people and the property of Georgia.

Thank you in advance for your help.  I look forward to seeing that bill move with lightning speed to the House floor.  That’s all we’re asking, for the democratic process and the citizens of Georgia to be respected.

Tuesday, March 27, 2012:  SOMETHING IS REALLY ROTTEN IN DENMARK ATLANTA!  THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE IS THAT THEY NOT BE FORCED TO HAVE A BURNING, MELTING, EXPLODING, RADIATION-SPEWING METER - BUT THE ENERGY SUBCOMMITTEE WON'T EVEN PUT IT UP FOR A VOTE!!

PLEASE CALL THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE, REP. DAVID RALSTON, AND LET HIM KNOW THAT THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!  HIS NUMBER IS 404-656-5020 (email link).

THEN, PLEASE CALL "REPRESENTATIVE" MARK HAMILTON, THE CHAIR OF THE HOUSE ENERGY SUBCOMMITTEE.  TELL HIM HE MUST CALL A MEETING IMMEDIATELY!  HE IS AT 404-656-5132 (email link).  TELL HIM TO DO HIS JOB, THAT WE PAY HIM TO DO:  PROTECT GEORGIANS!!

Then, please call the rest of the Energy Subcommittee. Ask them if they were in the meeting, how they voted, and to pressure "Rep." Hamilton to call a meeting.  Also, please ask them to vote Senate Bill 459 back into action, so it can move to the Rules Committee and onto the House floor.  THIS CAN BE DONE AND THERE IS STILL TIME TO DO IT - don't let them tell you otherwise!!  These people can be heroes worldwide - that's how big the story is - it's up to them.  Here is the list - and thank you so much!!

Monday afternoon - BREAKING NEWS OF GREAT IMPORTANCE FOR GEORGIANS - IF YOU HAVE AN ANALOG METER, YOU CAN KEEP IT, ACCORDING TO GEORGIA POWER (make sure you have a "DO NOT REPLACE METER" sign up)!  UNFORTUNATELY, THAT DOES NOTHING FOR THOSE WHO HAVE a "SPY AND FRY" METER ALREADY, SO WE HAVE TO KEEP FIGHTING SO ALL GEORGIANS HAVE THE RIGHT TO A SAFE, ANALOG ELECTRIC METER!

Here's the link to Mary Lander's story in the Savannah Morning News (link) with the Georgia Power quote.  When you read it, please keep in mind that Ms. Irene Mays, Jerry's mom (please see video above), asked for her analog meter back, that they took while she was away getting surgery.  She didn't ask for her power to be turned off!

I suggest everyone print out Mary's story, so you have proof if Georgia Power ever comes a'callin'!

And please keep calling/emailing those reps, everyone - we're making amazing headway! (-;

Bright and a little later Monday...

Please see FOX News and Glenn Beck (about Senate Bill 459 specifically!) stories below

Here is your update!

Good news!  I talked with Zach, Senator Shafer's aide, this morning.  He was SHOCKED, I believe, that this story is so huge today.  I sent their office the email below, with the Glenn Beck, FOX Report, and 87-year-old Irene Mays story.  He said there was still time to get this bill through!

You all are sure doing a great job.  Zach said they had THREE HUNDRED EMAILS this morning!  Not sure how many of those of those were Senate Bill 459 related, but probably most of them were. (-;

I would suggest, and ask you very nicely, that you call Senator Shafer's office, and reiterate how it's becoming headline news how awfully dangerous these meters are, especially for children.  His number is 404-656-0048 (is it bad that I know that by heart?). His email is david.shafer@senate.ga.gov.  And, of course, we still need to remind everyone else, too!  Here are our baker's dozen, below.  Thank you - we just have a few more days to go, friends!

Oh, one more thing:  It would be a good idea if we emphasize just what a nightmare investors are about to go through that are backing these "Spy and Fry" meters.  They are going to lose millions!  Not that anyone in the energy committees would EVER own stock in an electric company - I believe that would be a conflict of interest! (-;  But just let them know that anyone associated with "smart" meters are in for a VERY bumpy ride.

Fight Against ‘Wireless Smart Meter Assault’ Spreads Over Health Concerns

by Liz Klimas

Comments (41)

Citizens campaigns against the use of smart meters by electric companies is growing. Some of the most recent anti-smart meter news comes from Georgia where legislation is moving forward that would give customers the option to opt out programs with these devices, which have been said to cause health problems. While other areas are looking into opting out of the programs as well, some citizens are taking action to “protect themselves” in the mean time.

But first, here’s a recap on smart meters and the controversy surrounding their installation. About a year ago, we reported that some people who had smart meters installed in place of analog devices to measure electrical use were experiencing symptoms like headaches, insomnia, tinnitus and DNA breakdown. What’s the alleged association between these devices and negative health impacts? Electromagnetic fields associated with the wireless transmitters. Transmitters such as these, which are similar to those used in cellphones and other wireless electronic devices, have been reported as effecting those who are “electrically hypersensitive” before.

When the Blaze wrote about smart meters in March 2011, a group in California appeared to be leading the charge against the devices that not only seemed to cause health complications but were also invading privacy when it came to monitoring electrical use habits. StopSmartMeters.org was founded in 2010 as an advocacy group but now also provides ”consultation and advice to dozens of local groups sprouting up who are fighting the wireless ‘smart’ meter assault.”

There are now 26 states that have groups or advocates associated with stopping smart meters. One of these is Stop Smart Meters Georgia, which started up this year and has been chronicling activities in the state regarding citizen defense against the devices and proposed legislation. To the group’s relief, legislation that would allow Georgia Power customers to opt out of having the smart meters installed was passed in the state Senate earlier this month. Some cities and states have opt out programs but it can be associated with an additional tax. Georgia’s S.B. 459 opt out would be free of additional charge.  Georgia Power opposes the legislation, which is not in the House for review

 [snip]

With the opt out not yet a done deal, Georgia residents are taking action themselves. CBS Atlanta reports one woman even put a lock on her analog meter to ensure it wasn’t taken by the power company. Watch the report:

This video shows an anti-smart meter crusader documenting a power company employee removing an analog meter from an 87-year-old woman’s home. According to the clip, the woman does not want a smart meter so she will be left without power all together:

 [snip]

But the jury on the meters even among scientific groups appears to be out. The American Academy of Environmental Medicine issued a letter to the California Public Utilities Commission earlier this year stating that its own review of existing medical literature found the devices are not safe. It wrote, “Chronic exposure to wireless radiofrequency radiation is a preventable environmental hazard that is sufficiently well documented to warrant immediate preventative public health action.”

"FOX Report" News Show:

"DEBATE OVER SMART METER TECHNOLOGY GROWING"!

FOX News reporters Harris Faulkner and Casey Stegall covered a controversial story this evening:  the new smart meter digital electric meters.  The story centered in Nevada, where the electric company is installing Sensus meters, the same brand being installed by Georgia Power.

Apparently, many in Nevada are not happy about these meters, as evidenced by one man's comment about his home:  "I'd sell my house and move out of this town before I'd let them put one of those devices on there."  Penny Hess said "Long-term exposure to them - you just don't know what that's going to bring."

Stegall said that was just a sampling of the reaction coming out of Nevada after these meters were rolled out.  Customers are concerned about hackers knowing when they're away from home.  There are also health concerns about the radiofrequency radiation (RF) they emit.

It looks like people all over the country are learning about the disaster that is the "smart" meter boondoggle.  Wonder when the investors will get wind of their ship going down?  Hopefully it will be soon, before their hard-earned dollars are up in smoke, just like to many cheaply made digital "smart" meters.

Sunday Afternoon - We Got Another Number - and an Open Wall (-:!

I'm not finding Rep. John Carson's home phone number yet, but I've got the next best thing - an open wall on his Facebook page! Here is a blurb (use yours, mine, or ours :-), and his link is at the end of it. THANK YOU, PEOPLE - YOU ARE THE BEST!!

Last Wednesday, the House Energy Subcommittee tabled Senate Bill 459, an opt out for dangerous "smart" meters. But Georgians want a choice to NOT be harmed by possible fires, dangerous radiation, and double and triple power bills! People who have them want to get rid of them, and people who don't have them don't want them!

Your duty as a representative of the people is to protect us and our property. These meters can sicken and kill us and our children, as well as burn down our homes. They haven't even been tested for human safety! Please support SB 459, which only has less than a week to pass! Put SB Bill 459 UP FOR A VOTE IN THE HOUSE now; so Georgians may opt out of “smart” meters. We're all counting on you! For more information, please visit www.stopsmartmetersGeorgia.Org. Thank you.

For some reason, I can't link his page, so I'll just give you the name:

State Rep. John Carson (R-43)

Oh, gosh, I'm still shaking! I shouldn't be, I've talked with Don Parsons before (maybe it's the coffee and apple fritter talking :-). I found Parsons' home phone number, and his wife answered. As you know, Parsons is the chairman of the Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee. He is also thought to be THE MAIN PERSON holding up Senate Bill 459, for a "smart" meter opt out option. It's said he doesn't care what Georgians want, because he's not up for re-election!

Rep. Parsons wife was very nice, and I just apologized for calling him at home, on a Sunday, then left a message asking him to pass SB 459 on to the House floor for a vote. Don (I'm not being impolite - he asked me to call him that in a prior conversation) is so intent on protecting you-know-who that he went so far as to say, in that prior conversation, that he did not believe there is radiation emanating from "smart" meters! I believe the name for that is "willful ignorance." It wouldn't be so bad if no one was going to be sickened and die from his stubborn insistence on denying what's right in front of his eyes.

I know what you're asking yourself right this very minute: What's his phone number??? Well, it is 770-993-4264. And I encourage you to call and talk with his lovely wife, and ask her to tell him to get Senate Bill 459 on to the House. You can also say something that I forgot to say - ask him to do it TOMORROW, if you would, please. (-: Thank you!

Be sure and keep your chin up! We're doing all we can. Your dedication will never be forgotten. (-:   We can celebrate early, because we know these things are coming down, sooner or later.  It's too obvious to too many people for these investors not to cut their losses and run!

Sunday, March 25, 2012 - Tell Them to Vote "Yes" On Senate Bill 459!

Someone I respect very much said to me, in essence, "It might annoy the members of the House Energy Subcommittee if you call them at home."

If you go online and research, even for a few minutes, the damage that can be caused by "smart" meter digital electric meters, you will be horrified.  Unless you're on the Georgia State House Energy Subcommittee, and Representative Don Parsons (chairman of the Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee), that is.

Apparently, there's something more important that makes a majority in that group turn their heads and look away from children with leukemia from being around strong electromagnetic fields and radiation, houses being set ablaze, people not being able to pay their utility bills because these cheap digital meters inaccurately report usage, and thousands of complaints ranging from insomnia, to ringing in the ears, to heart palpitations, and more.

These are just a very few of the "side effects" of having a not-so-smart meter on the side of your home.  So I think it's worth a little bit of irritation for the Georgia House Energy Subcommittee to hear the message loud and clear:  WE ARE NOT GOING TO SIT IDLY BY WHILE YOU SELL US DOWN THE RIVER FOR NO GOOD REASON.  Why are these few individuals willing to stand between us and a peaceful, healthy life?  Are we not entitled to have our home be a peaceful haven?  AREN'T WE PAYING THESE PEOPLE TO MAKE SURE THEY PROTECT US?

If not, then what are we paying them FOR?

But this IS Georgia, after all, so we won't be calling them until after noon.  Here is a calling script, and the list of members.  Please be very polite, but let them know that this is the time for them to show that they are not, as was recently reported in the Savannah Morning Newsthe most corrupt state government in America.

So, if you get a chance today, please call or write this band of bandits - they're stealing our health and happiness, after all - and tell them to get off their low horse and push Senate Bill 459, for an opt out option for "smart" meters, through to the House floor for a vote!  Tell them they're working for the many, not the privileged few.  And let them know you'll never forget how they vote on this extremely important bill - tell them you'll remember in November!

I'll start posting the home numbers after high noon.

Good afternoon!  I will post the few numbers I found yesterday, then look for some more - if you'd like to help, please email me any home phone numbers you find for the Energy Subcommittee members besides these four - thanks! (-;

Saturday, March 24, 2012

Happy Saturday!  Thanks to everyone for being here. (-:

Everybody please feel free to share your strategy ideas.  Here are some thoughts for assignments today:

1.  This weekend, we need to reach out to those who can influence the Energy Subcommittee.  These people are holding our healthy future hostage!  I'll put their names and home towns below, because that's probably where they are right now.  We are aiming to have them move this to the Rules Committee ASAP, so pressure must be applied.  Their neighbors need to know THESE PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO BLOCK AN OPT OUT OPTION FOR MURDER METERS!

2.  Twitter!  I don’t have this, but it may come in very handy in the next few days.  If anybody knows how to set it up, or even whether you think we should, you advice will be much appreciated. (-;

3.  Facebook:  We can use Marie’s blurb (I’ll put it in “Docs”), and also come up with other short, pithy messages that will get them to tell their friends and neighbors what horrible things (e. g., death, destruction, poverty) might be right around the corner if they don’t instruct the Energy Subcommittee to MOVE SENATE BILL 459 TO THE RULES COMMITTEE NOW.

As far as the poverty goes, I heard, this week, of a prominent person in Georgia getting a SIX HUNDRED DOLLAR POWER BILL, and he wasn’t even home during a chunk of that 30 day period!  The rich may be able to deal with that, month after month, but for the rest of us, it’ll be quite a hit in the wallet!

4.  Let’s send material to editors of newspapers in these towns.  We may be able to get a front page story on Sunday or Monday, just like we did in the Brunswick News (please let me know if you can’t see this article).  They can be found at the newspaper link.  You can use the article in Friday's post (below) to send, or you can use your own material, or a combo of the two.  If you find newspapers and editors from the towns listed below, feel free to email them to info@stopsmartmetersGeorgia.Org.

5.  After 12 noon, I’d like to call the Energy Subcommittee members at home.  There are only a dozen or so.  This is a life-or-death matter, and they are public servants.  If anyone would like to search out their home numbers, feel free to post them here.  If you do call, please try and lead off with “I’m sorry to call you at home, but this is a matter of great importance.”  Then you could start by talking about electromagnetic fields, which “smart” meters produce all around the wires in your homes (due to their switching mode power supply – you can find more info here: http://eon3emfblog.net/?p=2180), raising the chances of cancer (up to thirteen times greater than normal), especially in children.  Ask if their job is to protect Georgians.  If they answer “Yes,” then strongly urge them to pass Senate Bill 459 along to the Rules Committee on MONDAY.

6.  You can still call and email!  They will not be there now, so there’s no one to talk to, which will make your job easier.  But they will arrive at their offices Monday morning, hopefully to overflowing voicemail and email boxes!

7.  Let's get ahold of Senator David Shafer, too.  He's the main sponsor of this bill, and has a lot of influence, especially as far as pushing it through the Energy Subcommittee into the Rules Committee, and through the Rules Committee to a vote on the House floor.  He is from DULUTH, phone number is 404-656-0048, email david.shafer@senate.ga.gov.  I think he can make this happen!

Thank you, everyone!  This is going to be a good day. (-;

How corrupt do you have to be to vote for children to get cancer, houses to burn down, electric bills to double and triple, and to put untold numbers of Georgians at risk?  Ask the Georgia State House Energy Subcommittee and Representative Don Parsons (404-656-9198).  They have decided that Georgians should not have a choice to opt out of having a potentially deadly item on the side of our homes and businesses.

Senate Bill 459, which passed easily through the Georgia State Senate, is a bill that would allow you to “just say no” to having a “smart” meter digital electric meter.  Since they were first installed, “smart” meters have caused numerous fires.  One company insider, Don Baker, said that the brand of digital meter that the electric company is trying to force on us is “fundamentally unsound,” due to their causing fires and melting (which only happens at 500 degrees).  He has brought suit over that fact, stating that these machines can also overcharge customers by up to SEVEN TIMES (Don Baker article from StopSmartMeters.org).

Despite the fact that the radiation emitted by a “smart” meter hundreds of times a day has been declared a Class 2B carcinogen, the electric company is installing them as close as a foot away from where children are sleeping.  Children are especially susceptible to getting cancer from this type of radiation.  I guess that makes the fact that these meters can be hacked by a laptop, telling someone if you’re away from home, pretty mild by comparison.

Please call the members of the House Energy Subcommittee (Representatives Mark Hamilton [chairman of the Energy Subcommittee, 404-656-5132], G. Baker, C. Fullerton, M. Scott, C. Martin, J. Carson, E. Smith, R. Williams, H. Geisinger, B. Horne, and R. Dickey (contact info is located below this article).  Tell them they need to vote “Yes” on giving Georgians the right to opt out of having an unsafe “smart” meter digital electric meter on our homes.  And they must vote “Yes” on Senate Bill 459 by the week of March 26 for this bill – and our families - to have a chance.

Representative Ben Harbin (404-656-3949) made the motion to table the rights, health, and safety of Georgia citizens.  I don’t know who seconded the motion, or who voted “yes” or “no,” as Don Parsons’ office (Parsons is the chairman of the full Energy, Utilities, and Telecommunications Committee) will not say who took notes or who has the minutes of the meeting.

Please tell the members of the Energy Subcommittee that the opt out should be free for all energy customers.  Because there’s no law saying we have to have “smart” meters (the Federal Energy Policy Act of 2005 merely states that we can have one if we ask for one) the electric companies should pay for them to be replaced.  As they are untested for human safety, they never should have gone up in the first place, and are probably illegally installed!

Also, those who choose to opt out should only be given safe, analog meters.  Modified “smart” meters are unacceptable, as their power supply can still increase your chances of getting cancer by up to thirteen times!

Ask these representatives to prove the article that came out last week, saying that Georgia has the most corrupt state government in the nation, is wrong.  Tell them not to throw their own constituents under the bus.  Either way the Committee votes, Georgians will remember in November!

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Thanks for all your help!  We did find out who moved to table the bill:  Representative Ben Harbin.  Unbelievable.  Here's the letter I sent out today to the Senators, who seem to overwhelmingly support Senate Bill 459, and to the members of the House Energy Subcommittee/Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee:

Senator Shafer, et al., thought you should see this, below. Please urge the House, esp. the Energy Subcommittee/Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee, to do the right thing! Your reputation as champions of our good citizens, which you won with your sponsorship/support of Senate Bill 459, and the reputation of the Georgia Assembly, is worth going against Georgia Power's grain, at the very least!

******************************

Anne (Rep. Billy Horne's admin. asst.), it was a pleasure speaking with you! I certainly appreciate your help.

Please ask Representative Horne [secretary of the Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee] who seconded the motion to table Senate Bill 459 yesterday at 3:00. Many, many Georgians will be interested in finding out who thought it was a good idea to not allow our citizens an opt out option for the dangerous "smart" meters. Because they can catch fire, explode, melt, shoot cancer-causing radiation through your family and home hundreds of times a day, can jack up your bill to double and triple, and were never tested for human safety, constituents will be none too happy to find out who thought other interests (i. e., Georgia Power's) were more important than the health and safety of the people these representatives were elected to protect.

We already know Rep. Harbin made the motion. That is extremely sad, and his home city of Evans will be sorry to hear that, through November. I hope that he will change his mind, and support Senate Bill 459, so that it can make it to and through the Rules Committee, and onto the House for a vote next week. Likewise, I hope you support the bill, which means you are for Georgians being protected from the "smart" meter digital electric meters, which never should have gone up on one house or business in the first place. I can assure you, the lawsuits relating to these "Spy and Fry" meters are going to go through the roof!

For more information, please visit www.stopsmartmetersGeorgia.Org. We will be keeping Georgians updated on all the activity in the Georgia State House of Representatives vis-a-vis "smart" meter digital electric meters.

Sincerely,
Terri Keller, M. A.

Let's keep writing and calling, everyone.  Just a very few days left.  We can do this thing, because so much is at stake!!

Can you all do some detective work for me? I'm trying to figure out who moved to table Senate Bill 459, for an opt out option for dangerous "smart" meter digital electric meters, in the Energy Subcommittee meeting yesterday, and who seconded it.  I want every Georgian to know who DOESN'T WANT TO PROTECT THEM AND THEIR PROPERTY.

I'm getting the runaround from Parsons' office, But his admin. assist. did tell me the regular secretary, Jenee Burke, wasn't at the meeting yesterday, interestingly enough. So she suggested calling the other members of the Energy Subcommittee to find out who took the minutes, and to have them sent to us. Anyone game? I will call later, but first I have to write a group email to catch everyone up on what's happening. The Energy Subcommittee can still send this bill DIRECTLY TO THE RULES COMMITTEE to schedule it, but it needs to happen VERY quickly!

Please email me with info at info@stopsmartmetersGeorgia.Org.  I appreciate it!

Thank you again! Remember, you need to tell them you want to know who made a motion, in the Energy Subcommittee meeting yesterday at 3:00, to have Senate Bill 459 tabled, and who seconded it. We need the minutes, because we are letting Georgians know who is NOT in favor of protecting us, but IN favor of protecting Georgia Power's FUNDAGE!

THE BILL HAS ONLY BEEN TABLED, SO IT STILL CAN MAKE IT TO THE HOUSE!!  PLEASE CONTINUE CALLING THE ENERGY, UTILITIES AND COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE.  SURELY THEY DO NOT WANT TO PUT THEIR OWN FAMILIES, FRIENDS, AND NEIGHBORS AT RISK, LET ALONE THEIR CONSTITUENTS!

Tuesday, March 20, 2012 - CBS ATLANTA 46 TV:  ADAM MURPHY'S VIDEO "SMART" METER SEGMENT, FEATURING LEAH SPITZER, IS LOCATED HERE.

EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION:  I found out today that there is a plan to not let Senate Bill 459, for an opt out from dangerous “smart” meters, to even be allowed a vote in the House Energy Subcommittee, chaired by Representative Mark Hamilton.

I believe they know that if a vote is allowed, it will show who is for protecting the people and property of the state of Georgia from the ravages of radiation-spewing “smart” meters, and who would put others’ interests before the best interests of our citizens.  If Senate Bill 459 is put before the members of the Energy Subcommittee, the whole world will know if they’re truly “representatives,” or just shills, that would let children die of cancer and houses burn down, rather than cross their benefactors.

There is a meeting notice online.  It says that the full Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee will meet on Wednesday, March 21.  The agenda states it is “to be determined.”

This is a HUGE issue for them, evidenced by the fact that there was an entire meeting dedicated just to Senate Bill 459 on Monday.  This is not something either Committee is taking lightly, because they’re aware that MANY GEORGIANS WANT AN OPT OUT.  And you can rest assured that anyone who learns what damage “smart” meters can and will do will want these “Spy and Fry” electric meters off their houses immediately.

My idea is that we should call and email, call and email, tonight (Tuesday) and on Wednesday, as much as we possibly can, right up until the meeting starts at 3:00.  We have to let them know that it is more important to protect our (and their!) families and property than it is to make the electric companies a ton of money.  We need to remind them that THERE IS AN ELECTION COMING UP.  It doesn’t matter how much money the electric companies give them if we won’t vote for them.  We will, tell them, “REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!”

If the Energy Subcommittee/Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committees drop this ball and betray us, we will make sure every one of their constituents knows that these representatives, despite knowing that “smart” meters catch fire, explode, melt, shoot radiation through families and homes hundreds of times a day, and jack up bills two and three times, decided that something else was more important.  That something else will not help them sleep at night, regain their reputation, or save them from losing an election.  The only thing that WILL save them is voting “YES” on Senate Bill 459, with an amendment to make it FREE FOR EVERY GEORGIAN, and an amendment that those that opt out only get SAFE, ANALOG METERS, not modified “smart” meters.

Let’s let them know that all day tomorrow!  If you want, you can start now, and continue until 3:00 Wednesday, when the meeting starts.  They will have NO EXCUSES to sell us down the river for a few pieces of gold.

Here’s a link that may come in handy.  It’s about a Sensus employee (Sensus makes the meters used by Georgia Power) who blew the whistle on how “smart” meters catch fire, melt, and overcharge customers by up to SEVEN TIMES over their normal bill!  Ironically enough, he was fired for his trouble.

Thanks so much, everyone.  Your hard work makes ALL the difference!  For your convenience, I've placed the full Committee members' contact info below.

Terri

Yesterday was very exciting.  The Georgia House's Energy Subcommittee met to discuss Senate Bill 459, for an opt out option for "smart" meters.  Apparently, citizens concerned that "smart" meter electric meters are dangerous showed up in droves!  Thank you to all who made the effort to attend this very important meeting.  We have successfully conveyed our concerns to the entire Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee.  Now the ball is in their court!

Unfortunately, their court may be closed today.  We were told that the Energy Subcommittee would be voting on whether or not to pass Senate Bill 459 today.  But it now appears that this meeting has been cancelled (http://webmail.legis.ga.gov/Calendar/?chamber=house).  Hopefully, this is because our voices were heard, and the Subcommittee has to research the matter more fully before moving ahead.

We know the Subcommittee realizes the import of this bill, and, no matter what people say, I have confidence that they will do the right thing and QUICKLY pass SB 459 to the Rules Committee, which will schedule it for the House floor.  So our path is clear...

Rules, Rules, Rules!  We need to do this pivotal Committee the same favor we did for the Energy Subcommittee - let them know why everyone in Georgia should be "allowed" to opt out of having a radiation-spewing, burning, melting, dangerous electromagnetic field producing, bill tripling "smart" meter!  I will be working feverishly on getting their names and contacts put up right here.  In the meantime, here is the link to their webpage:  http://www.house.ga.gov/Committees/en-US/committee.aspx?Committee=109&Session=21.  Feel free to start calling/emailing with your favorite "smart" meter info.

Also, I would suggest using the list below, and calling/emailing the Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee, especially Representative Don Parsons (404-656-9198, repdon@donparsons.org), and asking WHY the SB 459 meeting was cancelled for today, according to the Georgia Assembly website, and WHEN the Committee will be voting on it.  We must not let this bill be delayed into oblivion.  That will mean no legislative action on these "Spy and Fry" electric meters until next year!  As always, thanks for your dedication - it's inspiring!

Update:  We're still waiting to find out what the Georgia House Energy Subcommittee did with Senate Bill 459.  While you wait to discover its fate, please check out this excellent news coverage by investigative reporter Adam Murphy, of CBS Atlanta 46, featuring our own Leah Spitzer!

smart-meters-cause-health-issues

Good morning! Well, this is an exciting day - the Committee is meeting JUST to consider Senate Bill 459. (-: And, according to the aide of Senator Shafer, the sponsor of SB 459, you can call and have it make a difference all the way up to 10 a. m.! I've refined the script, and it will take less than an hour to call all the Committee members (phone numbers are located below this entry, a little ways down) one after the other (even if you can call less than that, it would be SUPER great! :-).

Be sure and read it over first, as there's a pause at the end. You can also send this as an email. Remember, you can grab the email addresses right here, at the “Email Addys – EUT Comm” page.  Thanks again!

This message is for Representative _________________,

Senate Bill 459, an opt out bill for “smart” meters, will be reviewed on Monday, March 19. It should be given a “Yes” vote, but changed in two ways:

1. No one should have to pay for the opt out except for the electric companies, who never should have put these radiation-spewing meters up in the first place. There will be multi million dollar lawsuits when their effects become known.

2. Those who opt out must be given SAFE, ANALOG METERS. Modified “smart” meters are totally unacceptable, as they can still catch on fire, explode, melt, and give you cancer, due to their switching mode power supply.

So, please vote “Yes” on Senate Bill 459, but make sure those two changes are made. Your constituents will remember in November if you protect them and their property.

[Right here, the message machine may tell you that you have ten seconds left.]

We’ll keep them – and you - updated at www.stopsmartmetersGeorgia.Org. Thank you.

BREAKING NEWS:  GREEN IS FOR GO TIME!  THE WORD IS THAT THE ENERGY, UTILITIES AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE IS MEETING ON MONDAY, MARCH 19, AT 2:00, TO DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT WE SHOULD HAVE A CHOICE ABOUT BEING RADIATED AND WORSE

Please gather at the Coverdell Legislative Office Building (room to be announced) in Atlanta to let your voices be heard - "YES" on Senate Bill 459, to opt out of dangerous "smart" meters, but with the amendments discussed below!

Saturday, March 17 - Happy St. Patrick's Day! (-:

Please Take Note:  We Need Two Changes to Senate Bill 459, So It Will Be Safe and Fair For All Georgians!   1.  No Electricity Customer in Georgia Should Pay For This Opt Out.  Meters Are Dangerous and the Power Companies Should Pay.  2.  Those Who Opt Out Should Receive Only Safe, Analog Meters, Not Modified "Smart" Meters!

The switching mode power supply in a "smart" meter is as dangerous as the radiation-spewing transmitter.  It creates a very  strong electromagnetic field around your home's wires, as described below.  We want safe, analog meters only, not "smart" meters with the transmitter turned off.

Please take the time this weekend to contact the home towns of the Committee members via Topix or whatever social media is your favorite.  You can also write letters to the editor of their home towns, listed below.  Here is a sample letter to the editor - use as you wish, including to post to Topix, etc.

If you have a new "smart" meter electric meter, you and your family may be in danger.  These meters can catch fire, explode, and melt.  They shoot radiation that can cause cancer, especially in children, through your family/home hundreds of times a day.  Their power supply (SMPS) can raise your chances of getting cancer by up to thirteen times!  "Smart" meters aren't tested for human safety.  Doctors (AAEM and others) say their installation should stop immediately.  Please call your Georgia state representatives and ask them to vote "Yes" on Senate Bill 459, for an opt out option for "smart" meters.  Tell them the opt-out should be free for all Georgians, and that we should only have safe, analog meters instead of any modified "murder meters" (with the transmitter turned off, it can still kill!).  Tell them we’ll “Remember in November!”  For more information, visit www.stopsmartmetersGeorgia.Org.  FYI, there’s NO LAW that says you have to have a "smart" meter.  Thank you.

Consider starting with the Chairman of the Committee:  Representative Don Parsons, MARIETTA, 404-656-9198, repdon@donparsons.org.  Please contact him now, if you possibly can.

Here are some more contacts, below.  BTW, I just got a call from Jerry Jones (see video above).  He says Georgia Power has left his mother with no power.  The "smart" meter they put in was causing physical symptoms such as ringing in the ears, and they had an electrician put in a safe, analog meter.  Georgia Power came and took that meter, and put in another "smart" meter, which seemed to be even worse than the first.  Jerry demanded that it be taken out, and Georgia Power has now left them with no power.  This is why this bill is so important!  We should not be treated like this by our power company, especially as these treacherous meters should never have been put up in the first place.  (Update, 3/16/12:  Georgia Power has still not turned their power back on.  We will stay in touch with them and keep you updated.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.  Thank you!).

The email addresses for the Energy, Utilties and Telecommunications Committee are all in one place on their own page, otherwise they make the webpage go kerflooey.  Please check them out on the "EUT Comm Emails" page.  You can just grab them all at once, and stick them in the "To" section of your email, and off your letter goes to all 22 members!  But phone calls are very effective, too, so please call as many Committee members as you can.  And, remember, the wonderful people that answer the phone usually are helping several Representatives, so they can pass a message along, usually, to more than one Representative!

"Wish Our Officials Were as Smart As Yours!"

That is a quote from a well-known proponent for safe electicity, who resides in another state.  They are having to fight tooth-and-nail to be protected from "smart" meters, and not getting any help at all from those in charge.  It's a very different story here in the Great State of Georgia!

First, I'd like to thank Senators David Shafer, Buddy Carter, and Greg Goggans, for sponsoring Senate Bill 459, for an opt out for "smart" meters.  Due to their efforts, and the efforts of many, many Georgians, SB 459 passed, 36 to 13, and we are one step closer to having a totally free opt out.

Thanks, also, to two other senatorial heroes - Chip Rogers and Cecil Staton - who introduced the amendment for the opt out to be free.  You all rock!!  The bill with the amendment, compliments of over thirty other caring legislators, passed like buttah!

More news tomorrow, friends.  You have done well, and I am beyond words.  Have a great day, and enjoy this victory!  We are in the HOUSE.     (-:

Do You Want The Good News Or the Bad News First?

The GOOD news is that they haven't voted on Senate Bill 459 yet! Illiana, at Senator Carter's office, says that, because it is such a controversial bill, and will take so long to hash out, that they moved it to the "back of the schedule." I said, "Well, if it's going to take so long, why not do it now?" She did not know. Maybe one of you has a clue, and will share it with the rest of us. (-:

The bad news is that, since it's at the back of the calendar, they might not get to it. We'll see how serious they are about even addressing SB 459 (and saving/protecting Georgians) let alone passing it, as the day goes along. I suggest, if you like that sort of thing, to listen to the live session:

At least we're back in business for now! (-:

Let's Hear It For the Rules Committee:

Georgia State Senators Can Vote For SB 459 on Wednesday!

Dear Friends,

We made it through one of the most critical junctures - to get Senate Bill 459 out there so it can at least be voted on!  Thank you for your hard work.  I'll be calling until I've left messages with all the senators I have not yet talked with - about 20 left to go.  It's not easy, but it's also not difficult.  Knowing that so many will benefit makes it worth all the effort!

I hope everyone will continue to call and/or email every senator you can, and remind them that their constituents will appreciate their "Yes" vote on Senate Bill 459 in this election year, and it will possibly save these Georgia citizens from great harm.  Remember, you can grab all the senators' email addresses at once right here, below this column
.  Please let me know if you have any difficulty doing that, and I'll be glad to help.

Have a wonderful night.  Btw, Zach, Senator Shafer's aide, said we could call senators between 8 a. m. and 10 a. m. tomorrow (Wednesday), and still make a difference.  The voting begins at 10 in the morning, and may go until midnight!

In the column to the right, there are contacts for all the senators.  Right under this red-bordered column, and on the "Senators' Email Addresses" Page, there is a list of every senator's email address.  All you have to do is copy that whole group at once and paste it in the "To" box of an email form on your computer.  That will make it easy to communicate with them all at once.

Please see the "'Smart' Meter Survival Kit" page on this website for more information on why it's so important to stop what some are calling "murder meters."

For our children's sakes, at the very least, this bill must pass.  I was told by a power-company related person, when I inquired as to the safety of "smart" meters:  "Well, you're not sleeping in that room, are you?"  He was, I think, trying to convey to me just how very risky these devices are.

And, yes, we ARE sleeping in those rooms.  And watching TV, doing dishes, reading, writing, and just sitting, talking.  And we don't want to be radiated to an extreme extent, as "smart" meters do, while we're doing those things!

The power company will tell you that "smart" meters only shoot radiation through your home less than one second a day. That is EXTREMELY MISLEADING.  It's actually broken up into milliseconds, so you and your family are getting shot through with radiation hundreds of times a day, every day, 24/7.  That is extremely risky, especially with a machine that isn't even UL tested or tested for human safety!  The World Health Organization has declared that radiofrequency radiation is a Class 2B carcinogen.

Thank you in advance for your help.  Your calls and emails will make a huge difference in our fight to protect Georgians in every corner of this state.  We deserve better than these untested, unjustifiable meters being forced, against the law, onto the sides of our homes.

Terri

Here is the latest copy of Senate Bill 459 (below), to allow a "free" opt out for electric customers from the dangerous "smart" meter electric meters.

It's a good idea, of course, to "allow" consumers of electricity to not be radiated day and night, with forty times the radiofrequency radiation of a cell phone.  It's becoming plain, to even the most casual observer, that these meters should never have gone up in the first place.

There are two problems with this bill that need to be corrected at this point in time.  More may turn up, but we'll just concentrate on these right now.

1.  The bill says that only those that "opt out" will not be charged.  What I am told is that this will allow the electric companies to charge those people that
don't opt out for those customers that want to be safe.  That is not fair, in the extreme, and the language needs to be changed.  NO ONE should be charged for opting out of a meter that can catch fire, explode, melt, shoot radiation through your home hundreds of times a day, and can raise your cancer rate from between 65% and thirteen times!  This will obviously induce those that don't opt out (and who would choose to have these horrible electric meters, knowing all the facts?) to oppose the bill.  The wording is counterproductive to protecting ALL Georgians.

2.  The description of the "smart" meter you can opt out of needs to be changed.  Senate Bill 459 says that you can opt out of having a "an electric meter that is capable of recording consumption of electric energy and communicating such information utilizing two-way communication between the meter and the electric supplier for monitoring and billing purposes."

Forewarned is forearmed:  Electric companies in other parts of the country are telling customers they can opt out
if they get a jerry-rigged "smart" meter, where the radiofrequency radiation transmitter is turned off.

The problem with that is, the meter will still contain a "switching mode power supply."  This type of power supply steps down the 240 volts AC that is coming from the wires outside your house to 10 volts DC to power the "smart" meter.  This huge stepdown creates a powerful electromagnetic field around the wires in your home.  This is popularly known as "dirty electricity," and with good reason.  It can raise your chances of getting cancer from 65% to thirteen times more than average!

Some people also attribute the symptoms that many people who have "smart" meters have experienced, such as ringing in the ears, insomnia, and heart palpitations, among other things, to this switching mode power supply (SMPS).  So, it doesn't matter if they turn off the radiation-spewing transmitter - you can still be harmed by the power supply in the "smart" meter, not to mention the chance of the meter catching on fire, exploding, melting, and being overcharged by many times that a Sensus employee has reported seeing in numerous "smart" meters:
http://www.stopsmartmetersgeorgia.org/burningmeltingmeters.html.  Sensus makes the meters used by Georgia Power!

We  need to let the Georgia State Representatives know that Senate Bill 459, while a good start, needs to be fixed before it is passed.  Representatives who have vowed to protect Georgians must act to 1.)  Make sure NO ONE PAYS to have these meters, which never should have gone up in the first place, removed from and kept off our homes, and 2.)  We must be able to have a safe, analog meter instead of a "smart" meter when we opt out.

These are simple requests, and they will be simple to amend to Senate Bill 459.  I trust the the House of Representatives for the Great State of Georgia will truly protect us, and amend the bill accordingly.
